Heidelberg United FC Optimising Performance with SPT GPS Technology

As one of the most successful teams in the NPL, the last two years have seen Heidelberg United being crowned the Australian NPL Champions, Dockerty Cup Champions, NPL Victoria Champions, and two-time winners of the Premier Plate.

This season, the club is determined to repeat these achievements and is pleased to announce that Heidelberg United will be using SPT GPS technology across their men’s and women’s senior squads to track their players’ performance in game and provide valuable insights to assist preparations in training.

“We are excited to have SPT Onboard as our GPS elite tracking provider for this season and beyond,” says Luke Byles, Captain of the Men’s Senior team. “The guys are loving the units, comparing their stats and seeing how hard they’re actually working out on the field. The players and coaching staff are seeing the real benefits from the information the GPS technology provides and we’re able to plan our training sessions to make sure we’re in peak condition for match day.”

With the ability to track distance, speed, intensity, player load and positional heat maps, the SPT2 device gives the coaching staff the data they need to optimise performance outcomes and make the right decisions when it counts.

The GPS tracking data reveals the physical state of players on game day and these demands can then be mimicked in training. The result is that the players become physically conditioned to these demands, improving performance and highly reducing the risk of injuries occurring across the season.
